One of our readers got in touch with some favourite articles, we read them and thought they were worth sharing, so here they are:

The Kill Team by Mark Boal - A bunch of marines decide its time for some random executions. Dark, but it demands your attention.

Racer X by Kenneth Li Rafael - The article that eventually gave rise to The Fast and the Furious, but don’t hold that against a great piece of writing.

A Farewell to Arms by John Carlin - A fascinating look at our electronic weaknesses and a the possible future of war.

Resurrecting the Champ by J.R. Moehringer - An L.A. Times staff writer gets drawn into a human drama revolving around a former contender from the golden age of boxing, resulting in a captivating piece of person centered journalism.

Mark of a Murderer by Mike McAlary - The story of a hero cop whose father and son were both brutally murdered.

At twenty-six, at the embarrassing end of a series of attempts at channelling Kerouac, I was beyond broke, back in my home town, living in my aunt and uncle’s basement…

Louise Glück, “Early December in Croton-on-Hudson”

poetryeater:

Spiked sun. The Hudson
Whittled down by ice.
I hear the bone dice
Of blown gravel clicking. Bone-
pale, the recent snow
Fastens like fur to the river.
Standstill. We were leaving to deliver
Christmas presents when the tire blew
Last year. Above the dead valves pines pared
Down by a storm stood, limbs bared …
I want you.

Salé, Maroc-We visited friends in the city of  Salé.  In this city was our first first-hand exposure to Moroccan hospitality.  We were invited to dine with an acquaintance, and upon entering her home, met her children, her mother, her grandmother, her sister, and her husband.  I have never felt more like a royal guest in my life.by REDLG
